The horticulture, turf management and other plant science programs benefit from new facilities that include classrooms and plant lab space, work shops, two green houses and garden spaces. One of the goals for this project and others on campus is to establish the BCC campus as the “Green Heart” of Brunswick County. In support of that goal, the design uses sustainable and recyclable materials of masonry and a laminated wood roof structure. Sun shading studies were used to locate the building and greenhouse on the site and to anticipate the shading provided by wooded areas near the building.
