Program Replace an award-winning, but obsolete, K-5 elementary school with a thoroughly modern facility, sized to accomodate a larger student population. Phase work to minimize disruptions during construction. Design ResponseThe new facility is sited adjacent to the previous building, and construction was phased to allow classes to continue as work progressed. As the old building was demolished, the construction debris was sorted and recycled. Thoughtful design and up-to-date plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems allow comfort and efficiency to coexist. Low maintenance materials help further reduce operating costs. Carefully designed openings admit generous daylight into the interior, while minimizing solar heat gain.
