ProgramProvide a nature-centered park around a large man-made stormwater wetland.Design ResponseThe park plan was developed by HadenStanziale, and locates the vehicle parking, playground and picnic shelter near the park entrance, preserving most of the 17-acre park for trails and passive activity. The12-acre wetland captures stormwater from 10% of the Hewletts Creek Watershed and is designed to remove pollutants before the creek continues to the waterway. Native plants and wildlife are preserved, and visitors are encouraged to explore the park by following the paved walking trails. Our firm, and our consultants, provided all architectural and engineering services for the new park shelter and repairs to an existing structure.Honors & Recognition Lower Cape Fear Stewardship Development Coalition, 2010 Development Awards, Outstanding Stewardship |
